Freedom of Speech

I don't actually care which Political Party rule Malaysia but all I really care is that the government is run in a clean and fair.

This is a debate running in the Malaysia since like forever. The Print Press (The Star, New Strait Times, Utusan Malaysia), Radio Channel (988 FM which is owned by The Star) is controlled by the government or rather the government has latches on the neck which is controlling how or what the people read the next day. This is not a democratic country if this to continue.

There are pros and cons to both of the story.. It seems that the government think that controlling the mass media will help them to be in power is so wrong. There are more alternative free media such as Free Malaysia Today, Malaysia Kini, Malaysian Insider, Malaysia Chronicle which could help the fence sitters another view to a matter.

And no matter how the media is looked at, there are always both side of the story and there are numerous of reports that alternative source of news to have manipulated or misinformed the public from the news (I wouldn't say that Free Malaysia TodayMalaysia KiniMalaysian InsiderMalaysia Chronicle is clean but their views is another from a mass media)

Freedom of Speech is rather restrained in Malaysia (This is a common fact for anyone who lived in Malaysia for a long time) which is rather appalling to say the least. And knowing how an editorial system in The Star (where one of the ex-lecturer of mine used to work in The Star...)

The mainstream media should be free from governmental control/influence but this is like asking for snow to happen in Malaysia.
